Tochi-mochi Production Method

Tochi-mochi are Japanese wagashi sweets made from horse chestnut and azuki red bean paste.

1. Horse chestnuts are shelled and steamed.
2. The steamed horse chestnuts are pounded into a mochi-like paste.
3. Azuki red bean paste is placed into the center of the horse chestnut mochi and the cakes moulded into balls.
4. The mochi cakes are individually wrapped.
5. Several cakes are boxed together and gift wrapped.
